PHOTO: A man and a woman publicly caned for being "too friendly" in public! for wetin na?

According to a news report coming from Indonesia, a man and woman were said to have been caned in front of a mosque for being 'too friendly', while they are not married to each other! and this was done according to the "Khalwat" meaning affectionate contact by an unmarried couple.  The said law was carried out according to the Sharia law in the province, with the presence of a large crowd yelling for them to be caned.
The Deputy Mayor Zainal Arifin was reported to have said  this to the  crowd "take these punishments as a lesson. what has been done by these convicts should not be taken as an example.  and i hope their canings in Meuraxa district today will be the last ever"  he said further " and to the Public, i ask that you do not isolate those who have been convicted here today.and also, those who have been convicted are reminded not to repeat the same  mistakes"
A picture of the woman been carried away after the canning, by female officials. This is very wrong in which ever way you look at it, and something should be done to halt such practice!

Whittier: Many Injured As Driver Run Into Jogging Law Enforcement Recruits

  A driver is reported to have slammed into more than two dozen law enforcement recruits while out on a run in Whittier, ABC7 reports.  According to the report, authorities say some of them suffered “life-altering injuries” that include head trauma, broken bones and loss of limbs. A class of about 75 recruits were running Wednesday morning as part of a training exercise when a 22-year-old driver crashed into the group in Whittier.  The victims and their injuries A total of five recruits are currently in critical condition, four are being treated for “moderate” injuries and 16 have minor injuries. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said at least one is on a ventilator, ABC7 reports. The recruits were all sent to various hospitals in the Whittier area, but the most critical patients were rushed before paramedics arrived.
