According to news report, the  hostage situation at Cyprus’s Larnaca airport has come to an end after the ‘lovesick’ hijacker was arrested.
The foreign affairs ministry confirmed Seifedeen Mustafa had been taken into custody after the final seven hostages were freed – four crew members and three passengers.
The man’s motivation was unclear, but Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades said the hijacking was ‘not something that has to do with terrorism’ and a Cyprus government official said the man ‘seems (to be) in love’.

Mr Anastasiades, appearing alongside European Parliament President Martin Schulz in Nicosia, was asked by reporters whether he could confirm that the incident was about a woman. ‘Always, there is a woman’ involved, he replied, drawing laughter.
A civil aviation official said the man gave negotiators the name of a woman who lives in Cyprus and asked to give her an envelope. The relationship between her and the man is unclear.
Most passengers were released soon after the plane landed, but in the latter stages of the hostage situation, one person was seen escaping through the cockpit and sliding off the plane.

Whittier: Many Injured As Driver Run Into Jogging Law Enforcement Recruits

  A driver is reported to have slammed into more than two dozen law enforcement recruits while out on a run in Whittier, ABC7 reports.  According to the report, authorities say some of them suffered “life-altering injuries” that include head trauma, broken bones and loss of limbs. A class of about 75 recruits were running Wednesday morning as part of a training exercise when a 22-year-old driver crashed into the group in Whittier.  The victims and their injuries A total of five recruits are currently in critical condition, four are being treated for “moderate” injuries and 16 have minor injuries. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said at least one is on a ventilator, ABC7 reports. The recruits were all sent to various hospitals in the Whittier area, but the most critical patients were rushed before paramedics arrived.
