Following the continued killings and reprisal attacks from alleged farmers and herdsmen for some time now, in Benue state, the Governor of Rivers State Wike, has called for a state of emergency in the state...
The Governor, while entertaining some officials of the University of Port-harcourt, blast the Federal Government on their ‘two face’ style of handling serious security issues/situations in the country...saying there must be state of emergency declared in Benue state,given the magnitude of killings in that state...He said:

“When there was no problem in Port Harcourt, they were conspiring on how to declare a state of emergency, now that the time for a state of emergency has come, it should be declared in Benue state because the governor has lost control.
“Look at how people are being killed. So if you are from Benue, sorry, I’m calling for a state of emergency,”
His Benue counterpart on the other hand, Governor Ortom, has expressed his disappointment and shock at the statement of the Rivers State Governor, saying
“I pray for my colleague in Rivers state who, instead of sympathizing with me has chosen to call that Benue state should be declared a state of emergency when the killings in Rivers is more than what is happening here.”
...But why has there not been a lasting solution to what ever it is, that is the problem...state of Emergency will not solve anything, if the people themselves do no want peace...

Whittier: Many Injured As Driver Run Into Jogging Law Enforcement Recruits

  A driver is reported to have slammed into more than two dozen law enforcement recruits while out on a run in Whittier, ABC7 reports.  According to the report, authorities say some of them suffered “life-altering injuries” that include head trauma, broken bones and loss of limbs. A class of about 75 recruits were running Wednesday morning as part of a training exercise when a 22-year-old driver crashed into the group in Whittier.  The victims and their injuries A total of five recruits are currently in critical condition, four are being treated for “moderate” injuries and 16 have minor injuries. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said at least one is on a ventilator, ABC7 reports. The recruits were all sent to various hospitals in the Whittier area, but the most critical patients were rushed before paramedics arrived.
