The call by the Nigerian Senate to summon Professor Itse Sagay on his alleged derogatory comment he made against the Nigerian Senate, has been called as a move to 'kill freedom of speech, an abuse of legislative powers and in all, unconstitutional, by a Lagos base lawyer,  Jiti Ogunye...
The motion which was moved by Senate Deputy Majority Leader, Balla, while making reference to a newspaper publication, as to where Professor Itse Sagay who is a member of the Presidential Advisory committee, has made the alleged statement, calls the Senate to call the Professor to the Senate, so as he can point out those Senators he made reference to in his interview...as being corrupt...
...But speaking on the call to summon Sagay, Jiti while appearing on Channelstv 10pm news...and when asked if it was right to summon Professor Sagay, and suspend Senator Ali Ndume, he said:
“The basic reason why you have the legislature is to promote peace order and good governance”
 “They know they don’t have the authority. When you are using the legislative process, it is an abuse of power for self-aggrandizement to witch-hunt your opponent and you are trying to kill the right to freedom of speech,”

 On Senator Ndume, he said: “There was no offence, It was a scam and very sad as if the legislature has a veto power over the executive”.

Whittier: Many Injured As Driver Run Into Jogging Law Enforcement Recruits

  A driver is reported to have slammed into more than two dozen law enforcement recruits while out on a run in Whittier, ABC7 reports.  According to the report, authorities say some of them suffered “life-altering injuries” that include head trauma, broken bones and loss of limbs. A class of about 75 recruits were running Wednesday morning as part of a training exercise when a 22-year-old driver crashed into the group in Whittier.  The victims and their injuries A total of five recruits are currently in critical condition, four are being treated for “moderate” injuries and 16 have minor injuries. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said at least one is on a ventilator, ABC7 reports. The recruits were all sent to various hospitals in the Whittier area, but the most critical patients were rushed before paramedics arrived.
