France’s state electricity firm EDF said on Tuesday that one of the nuclear plants in central France failed Civaux nuclear power plant a safety check, raising concerns that the state will not be able to supply the country with the necessary power supplies for the coming winter, AFP reports. According to the report, during the test at the Civaux nuclear power plant in Vienne, one of the pipes linked to the reactor cooling system ruptured. It is currently off for maintenance, and further tests are to be carried out at the plant.  It was previously shut in August 2021 due to the detection of deviations in the performance checks of these welds caused by corrosion and was scheduled to be back on stream by January 2. But ruptures in the pipes might extend the delay, according to Regis Clement, the head of EDF’s nuclear production unit.   Officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested two suspected cable vandals in different parts of Lagos, the Lagos State Police Command reports on Monday. The Lagos State Police Command in a statement released and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Monday 7th November 2022, revealed the names of the two suspected Cable vandals as Akpan Fortune aged 28 and Stanley Umebuane aged 24. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the two suspected cable vandals were arrested in Ikeja and Ikoyi on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Fortune was arrested in the morning on Acme Crescent, Agidingbi, Ikeja after accessing and vandalizing telecommunication and generator cables in a substation in the area. According to reports, the new bank holiday announced by 10 Downing Street will be confirmed tonight that the UK-wide holiday will fall on Monday, May 8. It will come two days after Charles’ coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday May 6.   Moroccan Imam Hassan Iquioussen will be placed under electronic surveillance and placed under house arrest. Belgian justice had considered at the end of October that the risk of flight was minor, AFP reports. According to the report by AFP, Imam Hassan Iquioussen was released on Monday morning from Tournai prison in Belgium where he was imprisoned, after being arrested a month earlier. The court has ordered that he must be placed under electronic surveillance and placed under house arrest. The Moroccan imam, arrested in Belgium a month ago, was reported to have evaded an expulsion order by France. He obtained on October 27 to be released and placed under electronic surveillance, the Belgian justice considering the risk of flight as minor. The placement under an electronic bracelet requires the 58-year-old man to reside in “a specific place, determined by the order” of release, according to a spokesman for the prosecution.
