The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) ask court to decline MTN suit against it
The last have not been heard of the suit filed by MTN over the 1.04 trillion naira penalty against it by the NCC.
In the suit filed by MTN, they argued that the commission did not afford them enough time to comply with the directives of the NCC, the lack of fair hearing, and hurriedly announcing the sanction of the said amount.
The NCC in a quick reaction, through its lawyers ,filed a counter motion in a Lagos court, challenging the suit, thereby asking the court to dismiss it for want of jurisdiction or send it to the Abuja division of the court.
The Commission stated in its file that, the case cannot be heard, because the suit by MTN, was wrongly filed in Lagos, nothing that the subject of dispute took place in Abuja. while the two respondents in the suit, the NCC and the Attorney General of the Federation are also based in Abuja.
We will keep you updated as we wait to see what will happen next.
