EFCC: Former Minister Abba Moro and four others slammed with 11 count charge by EFCC!

The former minister Abba Moro, after arguing that he will not resign, on live television in 2014, after the employment stampede that claimed so many lives around the country, has today along with four others been charged with 11 counts charge of fraud, ranging from money laundering, procurement fraud and obtaining by false pretence.  

Those that were charged along with the minister are: Anastasia Danie-Nwobia a deputy director in the ministry, F.O Alayebami, another Mahmood Ahmadu whose where-about is unknown, and Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited.

According to report, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after, investigating the case for five months, came up with the above charges, and are set to go to court.

The case will be argued on alleged contravention of the Public Procurement Act, No. 65 of 2007, 
in the contract awards by not following the necessary procedure laid down by the government. 

Also, the contracting of Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited, without a prior advertisement, needs assessment and procurement plan before awarding the contract. A case of selective tendering procedure by invitation of four firms, without seeking the approval of the Bureau for public procurement, contrary to the Act.

The contract was awarded through selective tendering procedure by invitation of 4 (Four) firms without seeking the approval of the Bureau for Public Procurement, contrary to sections 40, 42 and 43 of the Public Procurement Act, No. 65 of 2007 and punishable under section 58 of the same act, the anti-graft agency said.


The case has been filed at the Federal High Court Abuja, and waiting to be assigned, likely tomorrow at the resume of work.
