Gary Neville according to media report, has been sacked as Valencia manager after only four months in charge of the La Liga outfit.

The Manchester United legend was a surprise choice to take over from Nuno Espirito Santo back in December and joined up with his brother Phil Neville who was already assistant manager at the club.
Neville’s first serious criticism came after a dismal 7-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg in February, with many supporters calling for the 41-year-old’s head.

Valencia club statement

‘Valencia Football Club has today terminated its contractual relationship with Gary Neville as first team coach.
‘After carefully analysing the sporting situation, the club has decided to make this change in the best interests of Valencia for the remainder of the season.
‘The Club thanks Gary Neville for his work and wishes him the best of luck in the future.’
Neville, who will continue his role as England assistant manager going into Euro 2016, released a statement following the decision.

Gary Neville statement

‘I want to thank the Valencia Football Club, the fans, the coaching staff, workers and players.
‘I would have liked to continue the work I started, but I understand that we are in a business that is based on the results and in 28 games-ten wins, seven draws and 11 defeats they have not been at the level that I demand that requires me and this club.’

Despite Neville’s lack of success in Spain, there will surely be a number of English clubs fighting for the former full-back’s signature.
