PHOTO:16 year old swallows £2,000 worth of cocaine and heroin wraps during police raid
According
to news report by metro news , a schoolboy has been jailed for hiding more than
130 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named
for legal reasons, swallowed the drugs to try and avoid being caught during a
police raid.
He was arrested and refused to have
an X-ray but after officers were given an extension to keep him in custody, so
on a visit to the bathroom he passed a cling film wrap which was found to
contain 73 wraps of crack cocaine and 61 wraps of heroin.
Each wrap appears was around 1cm by
0.5 cm in size but they were swallowed together in a larger bag.
The drugs had an estimated street
value of up to £2,000.
The teenager pleaded guilty to
possession with intent to supply heroin and possession with intent to supply
cocaine at Basildon Magistrates Court and was sentenced to 18 months in prison
on Monday.
He said: ‘If we believe a person to
have drugs concealed inside them and if the court agrees, they can grant us an
extension, which lasts eight days at a time, allowing them to pass the drugs.
‘In this case, he passed them the
next day. It is very dangerous. If the bag they were in had split, he could
have died.
‘Normally people dealing drugs are
not users so they are not used to drugs in their system. One wrap could have
made him seriously ill, never mind 100.
‘If we have any suspicion or hint at
all that someone has drugs concealed in them, we will go down this route.’
Investigating Officer Dc Mark
Morgan-Jones, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: ‘Drug
dealing gangs exploit and prey on the vulnerable.
‘This boy is only 16 but is now
beginning a prison sentence for serious drugs offences after being targeted by
a gang to deal drugs on their behalf.
‘Drugs wreck and ruin lives and we
will continue to target those who travel to Essex to deal them.’
