Former Spurs manager, Harry Redknapp believes Chelsea has all it takes
to overcome Arsenal on Saturday, because in his own word, “ Antonio Conte’s
side are ‘mentally and physically’ stronger than the Gunners”.
Arsene Wenger’s side have beaten the Blues just once in the last 11
meetings and even that victory came in a Community Shield win in 2015.
Chelsea’s defence of their title last season was the worst in Premier
League history but the Blues still managed the double over their London rivals.
With Wenger marking his 20th anniversary appointment at the Emirates, the game is
going to be a difficult one for Chelsea, but Redknapp thinks otherwise, backing
Costa to inflict more misery on the Frenchman on Saturday.
He said:
‘Chelsea have had the Indian sign over Arsenal for the last few years
and I’m sure Arsene Wenger and his players will be thinking about that,’
‘I still feel Chelsea are stronger mentally and physically than Arsenal.
John Terry will be a big loss if he doesn’t make it but Chelsea are a more
powerful unit.
‘Costa came on for Chelsea in their EFL Cup tie at Leicester and his
movement was unbelievable. He was virtually unplayable — some of the runs he
made were superb and Leicester couldn’t cope with it.
‘When he is focused, he has got that great ability of bending his runs
brilliantly and timing his changes of direction to create space.
‘These days, he is looking like the kind of world beater he can be and
Arsenal have it all on to keep him quiet if he turns up at Emirates Stadium on
Saturday in that kind of mood
‘Costa won’t be far away from being leading Premier League goalscorer if
he keeps going like this.’
