Yes, I was also shocked to hear that from not just an “ordinary person” but from a Sport minister of a nation, like Nigeria. 

Even Republic of Chad as small as that country is, would “kill” to be at the FIFA world cup...I thought I Saw him at the Akwa Ibom stadium celebrating Nigeria’s victory over Algeria during the World Cup Qualifiers...yeye dey smell...Nigeria Trump minister!
The minister who was alleged to have made that statement that he was against Nigeria Super Eagles participating in the world cup, on an interview he granted to of Voice America, was quoted to have said:

 “competition stinks of corruption; and Nigeria is too poor to waste money on it, because Nigeria would never win the trophy”. He was quoted to have said.
He went further to say:

“The cup that we can win is the African Cup of Nations...lol
“There is nothing again that will take us to another man’s balcony in the name of the World Cup. We already have the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. For these, we can attend such meets. But I am opposed to the World Cup. We don’t agree to it. Conspiracy in the World Cup is too much,”.
 “There is the issue of bribery and favouritism. There is also the issue of corruption before you are even given the hosting rights. We are here suffering from hunger and we don’t have money for such things. That is why, even if we try many times, once it gets into the politics of the game, we can never win.

 “That was why this year, we had to tackle him (FIFA President, Ginani Infantino) and we said, ‘you , Infantino, if you win this election, you have to give us a position. If not, we shall not agree.’ And you see , by the grace of God, he even picked an African as his Secretary-General. That means he has started taking honey and rubbing on our lips. That means that one day, we shall get to really lick the honey.”...lmao sack! this rebel looking minister oh!! Nigerian football is in big trouble...Remember what he did to the Olympic team in Brazil?? Dalung must go!

Karen Bass has won the heated Los Angeles Mayoral race against billionaire businessman Rick Caruso and will now become the first elected female and second Black mayor of Los Angeles. According to reports, Karen Bass narrowly defeated billionaire developer Rick Caruso in the highly contested mayoral race on Wednesday. With 70% of the vote tallied, Bass had amassed an insurmountable lead of nearly 47,000 votes. After a week of counting, the longtime congresswoman, 69, who has represented California’s 37th District in D.C. since 2011, won the mayoral race with just over 53 per cent of the vote as called by the Associate Press. Whittier: Many Injured As Driver Run Into Jogging Law Enforcement Recruits

  A driver is reported to have slammed into more than two dozen law enforcement recruits while out on a run in Whittier, ABC7 reports.  According to the report, authorities say some of them suffered “life-altering injuries” that include head trauma, broken bones and loss of limbs. A class of about 75 recruits were running Wednesday morning as part of a training exercise when a 22-year-old driver crashed into the group in Whittier.  The victims and their injuries A total of five recruits are currently in critical condition, four are being treated for “moderate” injuries and 16 have minor injuries. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said at least one is on a ventilator, ABC7 reports. The recruits were all sent to various hospitals in the Whittier area, but the most critical patients were rushed before paramedics arrived.
