PHOTO: Wycombe Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa racially abused by some Cambridge fans in a league match game on Saturday
According
to report, Wycombe Striker Akinfenwa was racially abused by some fans at a
league game between Wycombe and Cambridge and the striker is clearly not happy
about the incident, with referee acknowledging it on his match report.
The
game which Wycombe won, saw the striker
taking to his twitter page to show his displeasure while also sending out a
message about kicking-out racism.
The twitter message reads: "Good
3pts 2day, great support again. It's a shame that a small group of Cambridge
fans focus on colour rather than the game #KickOutRacism."
Cambridgeshire
Police who are already on the case, released a statement that reads:
"Officers are investigating an allegation
of racial abuse at the fixture between Cambridge United and Wycombe Wanderers
on Saturday, November 19."
Detective
Chief Inspector Steve Kerridge said: "We are working closely with
Cambridge United and Wycombe Wanderers to identify the people involved.
"The
behaviour that has been alleged against a small minority is at odds with the
core community and family-orientated principles of the club.
"It
is totally incompatible with the spirit of tolerance and diversity for which
the city of Cambridge is known."
