PHOTO: Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, believes if Chelsea beats Liverpool, then the league is good as gone
Steven
Gerrard is clearly not happy that his beloved team, Liverpool has dropped down
the pack as to those chasing the Premier league title thus far this season, despite their incredible start to the season...
The former Liverpool player, insists if Liverpool who
have lost three games at home in just one week, would have to fight hard to beat
Chelsea to keep the Premier League chase alive for themselves and other teams
in the top seven...
Liverpool
who were knocked out of both the Carling Cup and the FA Cup this week, though
went to Stanford Bridge and to beat Chelsea, they hope to repeat same, as they
play host to table toppers Chelsea for the return leg of the second half of the
current league season...
While speaking
on the current drop of form of the Liverpool team, and what he hope to see in
the match between Liverpool and Chelsea, Gerrard said:
“If they
lose the match, it’s game over in terms of the title race. That’s why everyone
will have a Liverpool shirt come Tuesday night, because Tottenham, , Arsenal, Man United and Man
City will all be looking for that small glimmer of hope. The whole league needs
a win for Liverpool.”
“I know how big the game is for the club because the gap is
already 10 points and they must give themselves a bit of hope by taking all the
points.
“Anything else and it’s advantage Chelsea – and it would be a
massive advantage. They have only dropped 11 points since the start of the
season – and I also think they could improve in the second half of the season.”
He added:
“Liverpool hunted in packs and put pressure on Chelsea, while Conte
set up to be compact. You could see how much he had done in such a short space
of time.”
“People were saying that
if Chelsea got an injury to Costa then they could wobble – and I was under the
same impression.
“But there’s been the form of Hazard and Pedro, while the
supporting cast are all back.
“If they win at Anfield, I would be very surprised if they
didn’t go on to become champions.”
