PHOTO: See the Helicopters seized by the Nigerian Customs, illegally imported into the country...

The Nigerian Customs has scored a big one, as they seized 'helicopters' imported into the country,as the importers of the helicopters were said to have ignored the rules of importing such equipment into the country...

Though the identities of the importers were not made known to the public, but the Deputy Comptroller General of Nigerian Customs, while handing over the said helicopters said, the service has done its part, and will hand over the alleged imported helicopters to the Nigerian Air Force, to enhance their operations, especially in the North East...He said:

 “Due to the vigilance of the officers and their controller here, it was observed, when the requisite documents were requested for, that they breached our laws.

“This kind of equipment should come with end user certificate and some other things and the law provides that if you import in breach of the law, we make a seizure of the items.

“After seizing, it is not enough. we must go the whole hog. The process is that we go and appear before the court of law, file for condemnation and the court actually condemned it and forfeited it to the Federal Government of Nigeria,” he concluded

After the seizure and giving away of the helicopters to the Nigerian Air Force, one would have expected the Nigerian Customs to made the identities of those behind the importation of such ‘sensitive’ and ‘security risk’ equipment into the country, known to the public, so that Police can carry out investigations as to why they were imported...
