PHOTO: Lagos @50:Our very own boxing legend, Bash Ali, has lashed out at Governor Ambode, for inviting Holyfield and not him
Nigeria boxing legend, Bash Ali has voiced out his frustration and disappointment at the way the Lagos state Government has taken to celebrate foreign athletes to the detriment of the local ones just like him...
This is coming after the Lagos state government ‘invited’ American boxer and Legend, Evander Holyfield to the Lagos @50 celebration and none was extended to Bash Ali...
...though what is not known is whether it was the Lagos state Government that invited the American boxer or not, as the boxer, while paying a courtesy visit to
Govenor Ambode, donated a sum of $3million to the state to purchase health
equipment...and nothing was said about the Lagos at 50 celebration...
...but I am
sure the boxer would love to stay to witness some of the sight and sounds of
Lagos state as they prepare to celebrate...
But Bash Ali took to his facebook page, to express
his frustration of being ‘left out’ in the whole celebration...see:
“I was born
and raised in Lagos. I am a world boxing champion, I have contributed to the
economic growth of Nigeria through sport and I was rewarded with the highest
national honour ever given to a Nigerian athlete, Officer of the Order of the
Niger (OON).
“American former world boxing champion, Evander
Holyfield is in Lagos as a special guest of the government to celebrate Lagos
at 50 and I am not invited. The labour of our heroes past shall never be in
vain.”
