PHOTO: Lagos Notorious kidnapper 'Evans's faith decided, as Ambode signs death bill into law

The faith of Notorious kidnapper, Mr Chukwudubem Onwunamadike, popularly known as 'Evans' might have been decided...as the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwumi Ambode, signs into law, the Legislate Bill proscribing death penalty for kidnapping and other related offences in the state...

...the bill which stipulates a death penalty on any kidnapper whose victim or victims dies in his custody, and a life imprisonment for kidnappers who is caught in the act, or known to be engaged in kidnapping...

...though many Lagosians and Nigerians alike, before now, have kicked against death penalty, with the likes of lawyer and Social Activist, Femi Falana, asking Lagos Governor not to sign the death bill into law (in the case of Rev. King)...but with revelations upon arrest of people such as 'Evans' who until his arrest, was a billionaire kidnapper and the incessant kidnapping in Lagos, especially in schools, it becomes too difficult to assuage the Governor to do otherwise on such an important bill.......

...some people might want to argue why now and this time while also try and be sentimental...just like the senseless (pardon my choice of word) "Free Evans"hashtag on twitter...but the Governor has a perfect answer to all of that...as he said after signing the bill into law, that:

“This law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment for kidnapping for ransom. “The law stipulates that, where a victim dies in the course of kidnapping, the suspect is liable on conviction to death.

“Security is of utmost importance to our administration, and we are confident that this law will serve as a deterrent to anybody who may desire to engage in this wicked act within the boundaries of Lagos State.

“Our justice system will be required to execute this law in absolute and make sure that any criminal caught faces the full wrath of the law,” he concluded...

...States such as Delta State, Edo State, Kaduna and Anambra are some of the States I think have similar laws on kidnapping....we wait to see what happens, and if it will deter the kidnappers from carrying out their nefarious activities...time will tell...
