American Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein who was arrested on Saturday by FBI-NYPD crimes Against Children Task Force for allegedly sex trafficking of  dozens of minors in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005 has been criminally indicted on Monday.

The arrest and indictment of Mr Jeffrey Espstein come after almost 12-years of alleged child molestation, and according to reports, he has used his strong political connections over the years to escape justice. But this particular case and indictment could be his last Bus stop, as Federal prosecutors in New York are ready to see this case through this time around.

According to the report by CNN a few hours ago, Jeffrey Epstein between 2002 and 2005, ran a trafficking enterprise in which he paid hundreds of dollars in cash to girls as young as 14 to have sex with him at his Upper East Side home and his estate in Palm Beach, worked with employees and associates who would lure the girls to his residences and paid some of his victims to recruit other girls for him to abuse.

At a news conference late in the morning, Geoffrey Berman, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, urged other victims to contact his office. He said the Justice Department will ask that Epstein remain locked up while awaiting trial, given his resources, private planes and homes around the world.

"In this way, Epstein created a vast network of underage victims for him to sexually exploit, often on a daily basis," the US Attorney's office said

According to court documents, Epstein would pay the girls hundreds of dollars in cash after the encounters, then, in what resembled a sexual pyramid scheme, he would allegedly pay them more to recruit other young girls to perform similar acts.

The indictment states that the victims came from troubled circumstances, making them vulnerable to Epstein’s entreaties. Miami Herald report.

Jeffrey Epstein, 66,  is charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors.

CNN also reported that Jeffrey Epstein the hedge fund manager had previously evaded similar charges when he secured a non-prosecution deal with federal prosecutors in Miami. Instead of facing federal charges, Epstein pleaded guilty to two state prostitution charges in 2008 and served just 13 months in prison. He also registered as a sex offender and paid restitution to the victims identified by the FBI.

But that arrangement has come under intense scrutiny as the result of a Miami Herald investigation that examined how it was handled by then-US Attorney Alexander Acosta, who now serves as labour secretary in President Donald Trump's Cabinet.

The Herald investigation said that Acosta gave Epstein the "deal of a lifetime" despite a federal investigation identifying 36 underage victims. The agreement, the Herald said, "essentially shut down an ongoing FBI probe" and further granted immunity to "any potential co-conspirators" in the case.
