Katie Price: ‘Family Is Very Worried' About Her Vaping Addiction
Katie Price has sparked fresh concerns for her health after admitting she is addicted to vaping in a social media post.
The former glamour model, 47, shared a shocking Instagram Story showing an X-ray of a diseased lung, accompanied by the warning: 'Vaping has officially been linked to rare and irreversible lung disease.' Katie Price captioned the post: 'I have to stop.'
But with a history of lung disease in her family, those
close to the mother-of-five are said to be increasingly worried about her
ongoing habit.
Katie's mother, Amy, 73, has been battling
terminal Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) for several years and underwent a
life-saving lung transplant in 2022.
Despite this, Katie, who was spotted vaping on a train last year and
puffed on a device during her live tour with pal Kerry Katona, has reportedly
struggled to quit.
A source told The Mirror: 'Katie needs to stop for
health reasons and, obviously, her family members have been very worried.
'But she’s so stressed and it [vaping] is
simply her way of releasing that stress. It’s also very addictive and as we
know, Katie’s got a very addictive personality.'
Her boyfriend of almost two years, former Married At
First Sight star JJ Slater, is also said to be concerned but feels powerless to
intervene.
The insider added that although JJ is worried, there is
only so much he can do as 'Katie has her own mind.'
It's not the first time her vaping has caused tensions
within the family.
In October 2023, sister Sophie, who co-hosts The Katie
Price Show podcast, reportedly begged her on camera: 'Can you stop vaping
please?'
The following year, in November 2024, Katie Price sparked
outrage when she was filmed vaping on a train, despite the fact that
e-cigarettes are banned on public transport.
Katie has attempted to kick the habit before and previously
claimed vaping may have caused one of her teeth to fall out.
Speaking on her podcast, she said: 'I am
going to stop it because I don’t know why I do it,
'It’s this new, social thing where everyone vapes. I
don’t normally like to be a follower, I am usually a leader.
'Do you know what it is, they smell nice. I like the way
it just comes out, if you swirl your tongue you really get the taste.
Revealing that a tooth had recently come loose, she
wondered: 'I swear it is the vape because I put it here – it’s on the
tooth that came out - So I wonder if that is what made my tooth fall out?'
The star has also faced a series of health scares this
year.
In September, she ended up in hospital after accidentally
stabbing herself while cooking a curry, and recently told fans she is seeking
medical advice for unexplained weight loss.
Despite their worries, a source told The Mirror that
Katie's loved ones remain hopeful she will eventually beat her vaping
addiction.
