PHOTO:Nico Rosberg suffers at home, as Lewis Hamilton takes advantage to take home the Grand Prix
The British driver started second on the grid but immediately overtook his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, who endured a torrid time at his home grand prix. Rosberg slumped to fourth off the start-line, which is where he ultimately finished, having started on pole. He was then later hit with a five-second time penalty for an overzealous pass on Max Verstappen. It means Hamilton heads into the summer break with a 19-point lead over title rival Rosberg – a remarkable turnaround considering the three-time world champion was 43-points adrift of his team-mate at one stage.
